The Sony Ericsson Z555i is a budget phone featuring tri-band GSM with EDGE and GPRS. It is a small & light weight phone. Users have different views on its diamond cut front fascia.
The number pad has well spaced keys and are large enough for easy to use. Same is true with the entire keypad.
Z555i sports a 1.9 inches screen display with 176 x 220 pixels. It may disappoint you but considering it a budget phone makes up to it.
A unique feature is a light on the front fascia just beneath the camera lens, which is activated when someone tries to call you or an alarm goes off. And, when the light blazes, it is far flung to enable you to reject a call and even discontinue an alarm.
Despite the fact that this is a budget handset, features like slight vibrations when making menu selections is really useful and an FM radio bulking out music playback too is also nice to have.
The Sony Ericsson’s Activity Menu is here and must be praised. You tap a key above the number pad and up pops a set of tabbed screens you can use to flick between alerts and notifications, running applications, Web bookmarks and a set of shortcuts.
With only 1.3-megapixels of max resolution, no flash and few software features, the camera is not up to the mark. The image quality diminishes indoors in compare to those taken in the bright light.
Z555i has a basic music player. The built in memory is only 12 MB and Memory Stick Micro can be used for expansion.
It has powered with excellent battery life offering 5-6 hrs of talk time and 10 hrs of music listening.
To conclude, the Sony Ericsson Z555i comes with basic features but reasonable for a budget handset, and even the poor resolution camera did itself fairly proud.
